GENERAL FAQS:

Q: What does Ko mean?
A: Child of.

Q: What type of cuisine does Ko serve?
A: We are strongly guided by the Japanese kaiseki tradition, as well as seasonality, the innovation of our mentors and peers, food memories, and the breadth of cuisine available in the melting pot of New York City. We strive to make food that is unexpected but delicious.

Q: Who is the chef at Ko?
A: Esther Ha is the Executive Chef of Ko. David Chang is the Chef Founder of Momofuku.

Q: What is the difference between the Main Dining Room and The Bar at Ko?
A: The multi-course tasting menu is only available in the Main Dining Room (“Tasting Counter”/ “Tasting Table”). Guests are seated at a counter that wraps around the open kitchen. There are also tables, adjacent to the counter, which accommodates larger groups of 4 to 6 guests. Please allow up to 3 hours for the experience.

Our Bar (“Bar Counter”/”Bar Table”) serves à la carte options, which you can snack on or enjoy as an entire meal. The counter at the Bar also faces an open kitchen. Bar tables are adjacent to the counter.

Q: Do you take reservations? Do you allow walk-ins?
A: Reservations are highly recommended. We can take walk-ins based on availability.

If you do not find the reservation you desire, please consider adding your name to the Notify-Me function in Resy and you will be notified automatically should a new availability arise.

Please note we do not take reservations over the phone or email.

Q: What is your reservation window?
A: Reservations for both Ko Bar and the Main Dining Room are available 30 days in advance, including the current date, at midnight Eastern Standard Time.

Q: What party sizes can you accommodate?
A: The Main Dining Room can accommodate parties of 1 to 6 guests. The Bar seats parties of 1 to 4 guests.

Q: What’s on the full tasting menu?
A: Our full tasting menu is served in the Main Dining Room. The menu is currently around 10 courses. Reservations are required. Please allow 3 hours for your meal.

Prepayment at the time of making your reservation is required for the full tasting menu. Please note, beginning, Friday, July 1, Ko will no longer require prepayment. A credit card simply secures your reservation and will only be charged should you not show up for your meal.

Q: What’s on the menu at the bar?
A: The à la carte menu features bar classics such as cold fried chicken and Ko burgers, among a rotation of dishes that our chefs love to eat and love to serve.

Q: Can you accommodate dietary restrictions and allergies?
A: Select dietary restrictions and/or allergies may be accommodated with an advance notice of up to 72 hours. At this time, we cannot serve vegetarian, vegan, celiac, or seafood-free substitutions.

Q: Why is Ko Bar no longer just walk-ins?
A: Due to the devastating impact of the pandemic on the restaurant industry, we have made a conscious decision to minimize uncertainty by taking reservations. We will happily accommodate any walk-in inquiries if there are available seats.

Q: What are your cancellation policies?
A: Main Dining Room:

We kindly request that any cancellations take place at least 72 hours before the reservation time. Cancellations or no shows beyond the cancellation window will trigger a fee of $280 per guest.

Bar:

We kindly request that any cancellations take place at least 48 hours before the reservation time. Cancellations or no shows beyond the cancellation window will trigger a fee of $30 per guest.

Q: What if I’m running late for my reservation?
A: If you are running late, please notify us at your earliest convenience by:

  • Leaving a message via 212-203-8095. Please clearly state the first and last name on the reservation as well as the reservation time. Or,
  • If you have not disabled messaging on Resy, please text us in response to the reservation confirmation text you should have received.

Please note that we may have to release your bar reservation if the delay is greater than 15 minutes without notification.

Q: I have a reservation in the Main Dining Room. Can I dine in the Bar instead?
A: No. We are not able to offer our tasting menu in the Bar. Should you wish to cancel your reservation in the Main Dining Room, we ask that any cancellations or adjustments to your reservation be made at least 48 hours in advance.

Q: Is there a dress code?
A: No, please arrive in what you feel most comfortable in.

Q: Can I bring my young child to dine for the full tasting menu?
A: Absolutely! Please note, however, that due to the unique configuration of the counter around the kitchen and the restricted number of chairs, we require that each guest participates in the menu. While we have had younger diners enjoy the full menu, we also understand that the average duration of the meal, at least 3 hours, and the amount and style of food is not for most children.

Q: Can I have a private event at Ko?

Q: What is your corkage policy?
A: We welcome guests to bring in their own bottles of wine according to these guidelines: $80 corkage for one 750ml bottle (or equivalent bottle volume) per guest. Corkage bottles must not be available on the current Ko wine list.

Q: Do you do take-out orders or delivery?
A: No.

Q: I’m celebrating a special occasion, can you do something special?
A: Please let us know when making the reservation and our team will help commemorate the occasion.

Q: Can I organize prepayment of the check or a portion thereof?
A: Yes. Please email koinfo@momofuku.com, and we will be in contact to set it up.

Q: Do you sell gift cards?
A: Yes. Gift cards can be purchased online here or at any of our restaurants. NYC gift cards are redeemable at our restaurants in New York, Washington, and Los Angeles. Please note, Momofuku gift cards are not redeemable at Momofuku Las Vegas or Fuku.

Q: Is Ko wheelchair accessible?
A: Yes. Please let us know in advance so we can arrange for the best seating.

Q: Where are you located? I am having trouble finding the restaurant.
A: Ko is located in Extra Place, which is the northbound alley off 1st St. between 2nd Ave and Bowery.

Q: What forms of payment do you accept?
A: Cash and all major credit cards.
